Dr. Krant is a Fellow of the American Academy of Dermatology (AAD), a Diplomate of the American Board of Dermatology, and a member of the American Society for Dermatologic Surgery (ASDS). She is also the sole Delegate to the American Medical Association representing the ASDS, and participates annually in the AAD’s Washington Legislative Conference, during which invited dermatologists lobby Congress for health system reform.

Dr. Krant serves on the Professional Conduct Committee of the ASDS, the State Policy Committee of the AAD, numerous other professional committees, and is a member of the New York County Medical Society and the Dermatologic Society of Greater New York.

In addition to her work in private practice, Dr. Krant is Assistant Clinical Professor of Dermatology at SUNY Downstate Medical Center in NYC and has authored textbook chapters as well as journal articles for publication, consulted for industry, and presented at medical conferences. Recently, Dr. Krant has been named to Consumer Reports’ new Medical Advisory Board as their sole dermatologist in New York City. Her opinions are quoted in the press and she has been a regular beauty columnist for Consumer’s Union ShopSmart Magazine as well as a contributor to their OnHealth Newsletter. She is the sole dermatology expert for the well-known healthcare website Caring.com and is a member of the Editorial Board of Cureus.com, a new format for the public to have access to peer-reviewed scientific research articles.

Botox® vs. Dysport®

Botox® is the better-known solution for unwanted facial lines of expression, but Dysport® is another lesser known option which may work just as well, or even better. Dysport®, or Abobotulinum toxin A, is also a type of botulinum toxin. Like Botox®, when Dr. Krant injects Dysport® into the facial muscles underneath the skin, the toxin weakens the muscles. This leads to smoother skin because normally when muscles contract, (such as when people smile or frown, it will cause the skin to crease. Existing lines caused by frequent contractions slowly fade or disappear completely.

Injection Areas

Dr. Krant may inject either product in or around areas of the face and neck, including the eyebrows, forehead, corners of the eyes, upper lip and corners of the mouth. Both products have shown to reduce frown lines, crow’s feet, forehead creases, neck wrinkles, upper lip lines and downturned corners at the mouth.
